Sail Bunaken 2009, Big Event in Indonesia
In this month, Indonesia have a big event, “Sail Bunaken 2009“, I really appreciate the effort of the Indonesian Navy, which is trying to record an event of mass diving in the Guinness World Record in the Sail Bunaken 2009 event.
This event will be held to commemorate the Indonesian Independence Day. I think it will be a very spectacular event involving almost 1,500 divers including military personnel and civilians, who will dive into the Manado bay on Aug 17.
If this event is successful, many people across the world will see that Indonesia has a large number of citizens who are skilled divers and that our country is full of diving sites. I believe that it will have positive impact on Indonesia’s tourism industry and Manado will be known as another great Indonesian tourist destination after Bali.
The event will also involve some 40 Indonesian warships and many other tall ships from other countries. President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono is scheduled to appear in one parade at Manado bay on Aug 18.
