Natural Ways to Cure Depression

Wouldn’t you like a natural cure for depression rather than turning to drugs? While no natural cures are guaranteed to work, there are steps you can take to help life your spirits and get rid of depression.

The majority of people have gone through some depressive state whether it was due to the loss of a job, loss of a loved one, or a tragic event from which we never seemed to recover. These things happen in life, but there are ways of coping apart from resorting to drugs.

One good way to combat depression is to take vitamins. Vitamins help maintain your energy. St. John’s Wort has also been proven to help alleviate depression. Feeling tired and drained keeps you depressed. Having energy will help you feel better.

Exercise is an excellent mood enhancer. It makes you feel good and helps you look good and feel more confident. A little bit of exercise can also energize you, helping lift your mood.

Depression sometimes makes you want to stay in bed all day. Fight the urge to lie around. Wake up and get up to enhance your desire to get something done. Make 8am your target for waking up. That’s not too early, or too late. Setting a goal and an alarm will keep you from sleeping too long.

It will also help your feelings to set personal goals. Find projects around the house that will help you feel constructive. Maybe you need to paint or work in the yards. Setting goals gives you a reason to get out of bed. Another thing you can do is find a hobby or a place to volunteer, anything that will drag you away from the television and computer.

Whether you are leaving the house or not, change into something nice to wear. Chances are if you dress like a slob you will feel like a slob. If you feel depressed and lonely, consider getting a pet, if it is feasible for you. A pet will befriend you and make you feel better.

Talk to your friends. Get out of the house and have lunch. Sometimes just talking makes you feel better.
